Our Heritage

The §yndicate Dragons Guild was formed in 1999 when
mace2004 began plans to leave the Rebel Mages. Towards the end of 1999,
the separatist numbered 26 and plans were underway to leave the Rebel
Mages Guild. In January of 2000, we had 48 members and underwent the
final separation from the Rebel Mages. By February 2000, we were up
0110
to 50 members.
In the early years, the guild utilized a ranking system that
distinguished the various levels within the guild. The ranks were as
follows:

  • Dragon
  • Silver Dragon
  • Gold Dragon
  • Dragon Mage
  • Dragon Master
In order to advance in rank, you must refer other members to the guild. Dragon Mages helped with the website and taught new members to be better players and members. They also arranged events. Leadership was then taken over by Arcept and Wynter, who eventually ran it when Arcept stepped down. When Wynter stepped down, the Guild went into a stasis or hibernation period as members tried to regroup and struggled to keep the guild intact.A new elevation was formed. The Illuminati, or ruling council was created to insure that no one member had total control and that the Syndicate would endure no matter who came or went. The Illuminati have since evolved into the Nobles of Bahamut, the ruling council of the guild. The Illuminati title was dropped in 2003 due to possible confusion Today, the §yndicate Dragons have done away with the old ranking system and the extensive membership drives. Instead, we have decided that a more conservative and selective campaign be implemented to insure a strong and stable guild. We operate an "invitation only" policy to recruit possible candidates, who then apply for membership.Once application is received, it is reviewed and one of three possibilities takes place.
1.) The applicant is notified that he/she has been accepted.
2.) The applicant is notified that he/she has been rejected. Or
3.)The applicant is notified that he/she is go before a membership committee in an informal interview to satisfy some requirement for approval.
The membership committee is comprised of a minimum of two of the Nobles of Bahamut. (At the time of this writing September 03, we have a dozen or so Dragons) In 2006-2007, existing Nobles elevated a few more members to Noble Status to ensure the availability of nobles for voting on decisions. With life being so hectic at times, it is imperative that there still be 2 Nobles available. We also started monthly meetings of both the nobility and the members as a whole. An open forum roundtable to promote equality and allow all to be involved. In 2007, the site underwent a major overhaul. A new look and lots of images of Dragons were the most obvious changes. However, many other features and pages were added. While we still maintain a public area for all to view, we also now have a private members-only section called the Caverns. The Caverns are home to the most secret info the Dragons keep. Another private area was set up strictly for the Nobles. Among the changes and additions, one of the more notable ones is the creation of the §yndicate League. A members only, on-going event designed to keep the members playing and motivated. Dragon Scales were also added for similar reasons, though it is more open. The Most Wanted was brought about as part of the Eldritch Academy, as a measure to study our opponents. As part of the drive to thrive, the Academy reopened on Thursday Nights as way of training and teaching our fledglings the finer points of the game, tactics and fair play. (At the time of this writing, June 07, we have 75 members) What will be the next page in our history is not yet written! But we are sure it will be even more exciting to live it than to read about it later! Come be a part of the action!
